“Be good.”

“But it’s no fun to be good.”

“How am I supposed to spoil you, then?”

Crossing my arms, I pretended to pout. “Fine.”

Jude just rolled his eyes at me before plucking my sponge off the hook on the wall. “Sponge?”

“I like my sponge, thank you very much.”

He reached for my bodywash next, poured some on the sponge, and began soaping me up. I savored the feel of him, watching him as he concentrated like he was taking care of something treasured.

Jude finished with my chest and stomach before kneeling and washing my legs, thighs… I hissed when he got to my groin, as he rubbed the sponge over my balls and my quickly hardening cock. “Wanna suck it while you’re down there?” I teased.

“I thought we were being good?”

“You told me to be good. I never agreed.”

He chuckled and stood, and I pouted playfully again. Jude finished, and I stood under the spray to rinse off. From there he went to shampoo, washing my hair.

“Are we going to have naked time now?” I asked when he turned off the shower and we got out.

“You’re relentless.”

“You’re beautiful.”

“And I’m trying to be a good boyfriend here. You do a lot for me, and I wanted to make sure you know I care about you too. I want to make sure I’m giving you as much as you give me.”

My pulse slammed against my skin as we stood there naked, dripping water all over the floor. “Hey.” I hooked my thumb beneath his chin and turned his head so he faced me. “We’re okay. You don’t have to try and prove yourself to me.” Maybe it wasn’t all ideal, but I just wanted him. I’d take him any way I could have him.

“What if I want to do this? What if it feels good to give you something?”

Damn it. There was no way I could keep from smiling. “Then I would say why aren’t you drying me off yet?”

Jude laughed, which was what I’d been hoping he would do.

“This doesn’t mean you can get bossy.”

“Ugh. Fine. Whatever.”

So I stood there and watched him as he dried me off. I really wanted to know what was going on in that head of his, because it was obvious there was something. When he was finished, I said, “Naked time in bed. We can watch The 100. Have you seen it? I’ve heard good things.”

“Nope, I haven’t. Sounds good to me.”

My bed wasn’t made because I didn’t trust people who made their beds every day. We walked over, and that’s when I saw a piece of paper on my bedside table. “What’s this?” I asked, picking it up. I knew exactly what it was—him and me, standing together, little cartoon versions of us.

“Something I was doodling earlier. Theo said I should give it to you. I thought it made me sound twelve.”

I studied it. He was good, of course I noticed that, and it was sweet and so damn simple, but it made me feel like a fucking king or something.

“You’re not talking. Why aren’t you talking?”

I smiled. “I think this might be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I love it. Theo was right. Thank you.”

“Oh God. I would die if anyone else saw me right now.”

But he didn’t die that I saw him.

Jude walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist. He leaned his forehead against my chest. “I know I’m a bit of a mess with all this. I’m sorting things out, making some decisions, but I want to wait before I say anything about it. I really want us to be okay, though.”

“We’re okay. Whenever you’re ready. I’m staying right here.”

This was different from what happened with Henry. Jude wasn’t ashamed. Jude didn’t hide me away. I could wait for him.

“Come on. Let’s get in bed and watch this show.” Jude climbed into my bed.

I grabbed the TV remote, turned off the light, and followed him.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Jude

With Construction Guy and Friendly Man by his side, there’s nothing Awkward Boy can’t do. ~ Theo’s comic

Cam and I had had a long talk about Theo and the party at the center. I’d even gone to Mama K for advice because we weren’t sure what to do about the fact that Theo didn’t want his mom to know he was going.

While we understood his reasoning, we didn’t feel comfortable straight out lying to her or allowing him to lie to her with our knowledge. No matter what, he was a child and she was his mom. On the other hand, we had to protect Theo’s best interests. We couldn’t risk him being forced to come out when he didn’t know how she would react. He didn’t believe she would disown him or anything like that, though he didn’t know for sure. But being around other LGBTQ kids was good for Theo’s mental health.
