“Which was perfect, too, because it meant you were only ever mine. And now you’ve managed to top even that by carrying my baby inside you.”

I wrapped my legs around his waist and pivoted my hips until he rolled over, putting me on top. The thrusting of his dick felt so good, but it was the look on his face that sent me spiraling even higher. Fierce desire mixed with awe, aimed straight at me. “I’m so lucky you’re mine.”

His palms ran from my neck, down between my breasts, and over my stomach. “Then we’re both lucky as fuck, because there isn’t a doubt in my mind that you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

I bent low to kiss him, and his breath mixed with mine as I started to clamp down around him. His hands slid around to my hips, rocking me back and forth as I gripped his chest for balance.

“Yes,” he hissed. “Take what you need from me.”

His head fell back as my hips rolled and lifted. I found a rhythm that had his dick hitting my G-spot every time I slid down and stuck with it until I started fluttering around him. His hips began to lift up to me, making me shudder. When his thumb went to my clit, it sent me soaring over the edge, and I took him right along with me.

Once he was done pulsing inside me, I fell against his chest. Listening to his heart pounding, my breathing began to slow until my eyes drifted shut. I was exhausted from the combination of being sick and lack of sleep, and I fell into a deep sleep right there on his chest. I didn’t wake up until many hours later when he gently shook my shoulder and pressed a soft kiss against my cheek.

“I hate to wake you up, sweetheart. But if you still want to attend the event tonight, then you need to get up and into the bath I already drew for you.”

“Kinsley and Sullivan are going to be there, right?” I asked, stretching before I rose up on an elbow.

“Yeah, they’re supposed to be.”

That was good because I wanted to talk to Kinsley about which OB-GYN she used when she was pregnant. “And the benefit is for a children’s charity?”

“It is,” he confirmed. “More specifically, the victims of cybercrimes.”

“Cybercrimes? Like hacking banks and stealing people’s money?”

He shook his head, his expression serious and a little sad. “It focuses on children and families who have been the victims of crimes like online bullying, child predators, and child pornography.”

I was speechless for a moment. It occurred to me how many people would overlook crimes like that when choosing to create a charity. They were less obvious than the openly heinous crimes shown on the news. But it didn’t surprise me that Miles had chosen this charity to support. In his line of work, I could imagine he’d seen too much of it.

My feelings for him were always growing stronger and at that moment, I wanted to show him my unwavering support for something that was obviously very important to him.

I leaned in and gave him a sweet kiss. “Then to the bath I’d better go.” I climbed off the mattress and sighed in contentment when I slid into the tub filled with warm water and sweet-smelling bubbles. Miles let me soak for about thirty minutes before he helped me out and dried me off with a fluffy towel.

“I laid a dress out on the bed for you, along with lingerie and jewelry.”

“You did?” I asked, beaming a smile up at him. “You’re going to spoil me.”

“Get ready for some major pampering from me, sweetheart.” He pointed his thumb at his chest. “Best husband duty over here, remember?”

He wasn’t kidding about the pampering. In the hour it took me to get dressed, do my hair, and put on my makeup, he brought me a light snack and drink and called down to the driver to make sure the car was warmed up before we went down. He buckled me into the back seat and held my hand on the drive to the event, murmuring sweet nothings into my ear. I felt gorgeous and well cared for as we walked into the ballroom, but my mood dampened when the first person I saw was his ex, Eva.

“Well, well, well,” she purred. “If it isn’t the happy couple.”

“Eva,” Miles bit out.

He sounded pissed, and I slid my arm around his waist to give him a squeeze. His arm was already slung over my shoulder, but he pulled me closer and pressed his free hand over my stomach.

Eva didn’t miss a thing, and her lips turned up in what couldn’t be mistaken for anything less than a spiteful grin as her gaze moved back up to my face. “You’re already pregnant? That’s too bad. Now your baby’s going to have a criminal for a father.”
