I stood there, lost in a blissful haze, as Wyatt turned and made his way back down the hall. Once he was out of sight, I stepped into my room and closed the door. I was still floating on Cloud 9 as I slipped on my pajamas and curled into bed. I closed my eyes, but there was no way I was going to get any sleep. My mind was swimming with thoughts about Wyatt.

The sexy curve of his lips when he smiled, the spark in his eyes when he looked at me, and most of all, the feel of his lips on mine. Every breath I took brought on another thought or memory, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. And I wasn’t so sure I wanted to. I liked the way I felt when I was with him.

I spent hours staring at the ceiling, reliving every moment I’d shared with him, and before I knew it, the sun was starting to rise. I didn’t do well with no sleep, so I laid there for another hour or so, hoping I might doze off. Sadly, all I did was toss and turn, so I got out of bed and headed into the bathroom for a shower.

Just as I feared, I was tired and grumpy. I hoped that the hot water would help, but no such luck. I was just as irritable when I got out and dried off. I managed to get dressed without any issues, but I had no desire to put on makeup or fix my hair. I just threw on a baseball cap, then headed to the kitchen for coffee and a bite to eat.

When I walked in, Lacy and the girls were gathered around the stove, making breakfast for the guys. At first, they didn’t notice that I’d entered the room and was pouring myself a cup of coffee, but the second Lacy spotted me, she shrieked, “There you are! I was beginning to think you would never get up!”

“It’s not even eight o’clock.”

“Yeah, well, we’ve been up since six.” Lacy followed me over to the table and sat down next to me. “How did it go last night?”

“It was good. I had a nice time.”

“A nice time?” She gave me a nudge with her elbow. “Come on, woman! You gotta give me more than that.”

“I don’t have much more to give.”

“Why?” Concern marked her face as she asked, “Did something happen? Was he an asshole?”

“No, nothing like that. I’m just really tired. I didn’t get much sleep.”

“Didn’t get much sleep, huh?” A mischievous smirk swept across her face as she teased, “Does that mean he finally deflowered you?”

“Deflowered me? What planet are you from?” I gave her an annoyed glare. “I can’t deal with you today.”

“Oh, come on. You know I’m just messing with you.” She gave me a nudge with her elbow, then shook her head with a grumble. “You are such a grumpy pants when you don’t get enough sleep.”

“I know. I just can’t seem to help myself.”

“It’s fine. I’m the same way when I’ve had a long night,” she replied, sounding disappointed. “But everything went okay? You had a good time with him?”

“I had a great time with him.” I took a sip of my coffee, then smiled. “I’m hoping I’ll have another great time tonight.”

“Tonight?” She leaned in closer. “You’re going out again tonight?”

“We are.”

“So, things did go well last night.”

“Very much so.”

“Well, it’s about damn time. I knew you two would hit it off.” Lacy’s smile widened. “And if you wanna keep hitting it off, you best get your tired ass back to your room and get some sleep 'cause I highly doubt Bones is gonna want to spend his night with Ms. Crabby Patty.”

“You’re right, but I’m wound too tight to sleep.”

“We could go for a run or head into town and carb out on some pancakes.”

“Hmmm... Pancakes sound like heaven.”

“Then, let’s go load up.”

I was starving and the mere thought of a big plate of pancakes had my mouth watering, so I needed no further persuasion. I followed her out of the kitchen, and we raced out to her car. Seconds later, we were headed towards town. We hadn’t been riding long when I remembered how Wyatt picked me up from my date. “Hey, I thought there was something wrong with your car.”

“Huh?”

“Wyatt said it wouldn’t start. It was why he came to pick me up the other night.”

“Oh, that.” Lacy grimaced. “I might’ve lied about that.”

“What? Why would...” My head fell back as I groaned. “You did it so he’d come and pick me up.”

“Guilty as charged.”

“I guess I should thank you. If you hadn’t lied, then Wyatt would’ve never asked me out.”

“Oh, he would’ve asked you out on his own eventually, but I didn’t see any harm in giving him another little push.”
