That made Easy automatically glance down. And immediately regret doing so when he swayed on his feet and bile rose from his gut. He groaned while sucking in lungsful of oxygen to chase away the queasiness.

Slowly glancing around, he found some of his brothers standing in a group by The Barn, looking as if they were discussing something important. Knowing them, it was probably about sex, drugs or booze.

Who he did not see was Tess. “Where’s she at?”

Judge continued to help hold him up. “They carried her into the house.”

“Who?”

“Yep. That last strike musta given you brain damage.”

“Who carried her and what house?” he clarified, getting impatient.

“Dodge carried her into the farmhouse since Stella’s there.”

“Thought all the women left.”

Judge shook his head. “Stella stayed home with Rush with a promise she wouldn’t intervene.”

“She fuckin’ listened?”

Judge snorted. “Unlike you.”

“Help me over there.”

“Not a good idea,” Judge warned.

“Don’t give a fuck if it’s a good idea or not. I wanna see her and make sure she’s okay.”

“Stella and Trip’s got this.”

“Fuck that. Gotta see her,” he insisted. “Get me over there.”

“It ain’t smart. Trip’s still wound up.”

“Don’t care.”

Judge released him and Easy stumbled but somehow caught himself before tumbling to the ground in a helpless heap.

“Get over there yourself, then. Good fuckin’ luck.” With that, the big man walked away, shaking his head and grumbling to himself.

If Easy had to crawl on his hands and knees all the way to the farmhouse, he would. Nobody was fucking stopping him from seeing Tessa.

Not even her fucking brother.

Chapter Eighteen

Holding the screen door open with his boot, Easy pounded on the back door but didn’t bother to wait for the time it would take for someone to answer it. He twisted the knob but found it locked.

“For fuck’s sake,” he muttered under his breath. “Tessa!”

He winced since yelling made his face throb even worse. He swore his brain had been used in a game of kickball.

Cupping both hands around the sides of his face, he pressed them to the window and saw Tessa sitting at the kitchen table…

Crying.

Tessa didn’t cry. She wasn’t an emotional woman at all. In fact, she was the exact opposite, using an attitude to hide her true feelings.

Fuck!

Stella’s gaze was bouncing back and forth between him at the door and Trip. Crys, standing near the counter with Rush in her arms, was staring wide-eyed in his direction, too.

And Trip…

Easy pounded on the door again. “Let me in.”

Trip shot him a killer glare, crossed his arms over his chest and turned his back toward the door.

Fuckin’ son of a bitch. Him doing that was a slap in the face.

“Let me the fuck in now!” Easy roared and slammed his palm against the door hard enough to rattle it, ignoring the sharp twinge spiraling up his arm. “Tessa, let me in.”

He leaned into his hand, now planted on the door, doing his best to stay upright and not curl into a ball on the porch because of the excruciating pain shooting through every damn inch of his body.

The pain and discomfort after the crash was nothing close to this. “Jesus fuckin’ Christ.”

When Stella unfroze herself from her spot and headed over to the door, Easy could hear the Fury prez growl, “Don’t you fuckin’ dare.”

Ignoring her husband’s warning, Stella rolled her blue eyes, set her jaw and the second she flipped the lock, Easy had the door shoved open, making her take a quick step back so she wouldn’t get slammed by the door or him.

“Don’t make me regret this,” she muttered under her breath.

He couldn’t promise that but gave her a single nod anyway. Before he could approach Tessa, Trip was in his face with his fingers curled into fists and a muscle popping in his cheek. “Get the fuck outta my house.”

Easy lifted his chin and stared down his president as best as he could, even with one eye now almost swollen shut. “Fuck you. I ain’t goin’ anywhere. You got what you wanted from me, now I’m here to get what’s mine.”

“Doin’ this fuckin’ backwards, asshole. You wanted her, you shoulda done it the right way.”

Easy’s gaze held Trip’s and he lowered his voice. “Get outta my way.”

Trip snatched Easy’s shirt in one fist. Already having a hard time seeing, Easy missed the other coming until right before the impact with his nose. By then, it was too late to avoid it.

His head snapped back and something inside his nose burst, causing blood to gush from both nostrils.

Son of a bitch!

“Trip!” both Stella and Tessa screamed.

“You don’t have a fuckin’ say in this house and you certainly don’t have a fuckin’ say about my sister. You got me?”

“Let him go, Trip!” Tessa yelled as Stella yanked her ol’ man away.

“Enough of this shit, Trip!” Stella shouted at him.

As soon as she got them separated, Stella pushed Easy into one of the seats at the table. “Sit down before you die in my fucking kitchen.” She glanced back at Crys holding Rush, now red-faced and wailing, in her arms. “Crys, take Rush and go to…” She flapped a hand around. “Just take him to Sig and Red’s for right now.”
