“For fuck’s sake!” Sig yelled. “I’m fuckin’ standin’ right here!”

Trip turned to him. “What have we said that’s wrong? Anythin’?”

“How ‘bout just fuckin’ askin’ me if that’s somethin’ we’d even consider first?”

Sig was right.

“Is it?” Trip asked his brother. “To be honest, all of this shit’s been keepin’ me awake the last few nights.”

“Sure it ain’t Rush keepin’ you awake?” Cage joked.

“Yeah, I’m up with Rush but afterward I sit in that fuckin’ rocker and think about those four fuckin’ kids and how to help them.” He glanced around. “Most of us never got that kinda help. If we had, things might’ve been different for some of us.”

“If we had, maybe none of us would be standin’ here in the middle of what you were determined to rebuild,” Rook reminded him, ignoring the fact his own father was in the room.

“You created the future to help heal the past, Trip,” Judge said. “Didn’t like it at first. Didn’t quite see it like you did. Took me a while to get it, but I finally did. I got it. You did right by doin’ it and no one’s gonna argue that.”

“The Originals left a mark that this generation is slowly erasin’,” Ozzy admitted.

“Look, Liz and Crash are comin’ up this weekend. Lemme feel them out about takin’ Gabi down to Shadow Valley. Their village is just as strong, if not stronger, than ours. It would be a good place for her to land and it would be far from that mountain.”

“Think you and Sig should talk to Red, too,” Judge suggested to the prez. “The DAMC might not wanna take on a teenager who came from questionable circumstances. Not just from the Shirleys but from wherever those assholes nabbed her from. The possibility of bringing heat on their club might be a problem.”

Trip nodded and turned to Sig. “That even an option for you, brother? Would you be willin’ to take on a fourteen-year-old? She could help you and Red but she also might be a burden, too. So, you gotta weigh the pros and cons. But Dodge might be right. Who’d be better than Red when it comes to understandin’ what Gabi went through in those goat fuckers’ hands?”

“Don’t fuckin’ know. But if Red’s willin’…” He grimaced and scrubbed a hand over his mouth. “Whatever Red wants.”

Everyone standing in that room knew whatever Red wanted, Red got. Sig made sure of it. So, if his ol’ lady agreed, Gabi would be moving into that double-wide with them until a house bigger and more permanent was built.

But, damn, taking on four kids at once? Easy was just glad it wasn’t him going from zero to four kids in record time. He didn’t even want one right now, fuck getting saddled with four.

“What about Gabi? She expectin’ to stay with you and Chelle?” Trip asked Shade.

Shade answered in his slow, careful way. “Don’t think so. Like I said, she’s more worried she’ll find herself out on the street with nothin’. We assured her that ain’t ever gonna happen. Chelle also warned her because of that, she’ll now have more people than she’d ever want stickin’ their damn nose in her business. But that’s gonna happen whether she stays here or goes to Shadow Valley.”

“Right. She’s a teenager, she’ll quickly get sick of havin’ adults up her ass, whether with us or the DAMC,” Trip stated.

Judge snorted. “Hell, Daisy’s not a teenager yet and she’s already sick of it.”

Deacon whacked his cousin’s arm. “Lemme be the first to give you my condolences for when she does turn into a teen.” He feigned a shudder.

Judge grimaced and pulled on his long beard. “Yeah. Can we just go from eight to twenty-eight?”

Dutch snorted loudly. “You ain’t gonna be that lucky, brother. Take it from me.”

“All right. Let’s wrap this up. Shade, I’m takin’ Gabi’s good stayin’ with you and Chelle for right now, yeah?”

Shade nodded. “Yeah.”

“We’ll figure it out and get her settled somewhere as soon as we can. Right now, she’s got all of us in her corner and that’s the most important part.”

“Damn right,” Easy muttered.

Gabi might not feel so lucky right now, but soon she’d realize just how damn fortunate she was. If it wasn’t for the Fury, Easy might be floundering. But because he found the club, his feet were on solid ground. He had a good job, a roof over his fucking head, a loyal brotherhood and, more importantly, he had an ever-growing family who accepted him no matter what.

Even if he was keeping some secrets right now.

Like Eddie, Syn’s drummer, Easy needed to shit or get off the pot when it came to those late night visits before it caused an issue he might regret later.

He glanced past Judge to where “The Punisher” hung on the wall behind the enforcer.
