Tonight she wore a long, sleek dress that went down to her ankles to cover the remaining minor swelling and since she occasionally still experienced a twinge or two of pain, she’d been wearing fancy sandals instead of her normal platform shoes.
As soon as she stepped out of the dressing room, she crossed the hallway to the manager’s office.
She’d been assigned a mission by Rez. As soon as he asked her to do it, she’d jumped on the chance to fuck with the Demons in any way she could.
She peeked her head into the open doorway. Every time she looked into Taint’s office, she did it at her own risk. She never knew what she’d find.
She shuddered at some of the things she’d seen Taint do.
Luckily, his pale ass was tucked away in his normal dirty denim and he was leaning back in his office chair with his boots propped on his unorganized desk covered in more garbage than actual work.
The only “work” the biker did was work on the women’s nerves. As well as harass them, of course.
Because why respect the dancers who made the club money? That would make actual business sense. One of many things Taint was lacking.
“Hey, got a minute?” she called out, stepping into the doorway.
His dark eyes narrowed on her. “That minute gonna be full of you bitchin’?”
“It’s about T-Bone.”
His Neanderthal-shaped brow furrowed. “What about him?”
She stepped into his office—purposely leaving the door open—and cautiously approached the desk. It was better if she treated him like a wild animal that could attack at any moment.
As soon as she was done with this conversation, she’d head back into the dressing room and let Rez know she’d survived it. He was aware of tonight’s plans and he’d be waiting on a call or text.
“I know that you sell drugs out of the club.”
His boots thumped onto the floor as he quickly sat up, a frown making his mug even uglier. “How d’you know that?”
“Seriously? You thought no one would notice? It’s a regular activity with obvious patterns. For example, when T-Bone’s working, he’s constantly going out back.”
“He’s goin’ out for a fuckin’ smoke break.”
She could hear the silent “you dumb bitch” tacked on the end of that. Good thing he couldn’t hear everything she called him in her head. “Saint… Lie to me all you want, but I’m smarter than what you give me credit for.”
She could barely see his mouth twist in the midst of all that shaggy facial hair. “That’s what you wanted to talk to me about? To tell me you’re a nosy bitch that can’t mind her own fuckin’ business?”
What a gem. “No, I wanted to address T-Bone in particular.”
“You think I give a fuck about that prospect?”
“You should since he works here.” On the nights he showed up, anyway. She hadn’t seen him since Rez and his brothers chased the prospect down. But that didn’t mean he wasn’t still a part of the Demons.
“Then say what the fuck you’re gonna say and then get the fuck outta my face.” He tipped his head to the side and raked his gaze down her. “Unless you wanna pull that dress up and bend over my desk.”
She did not. And never would willingly. She’d rather staple her pussy shut and be celibate the rest of her life.
“He’s using the meth you’re selling to get women addicted and under his thumb. Then he’s selling their bodies. Like a pimp. Did you know that?”
To appear uninterested, Taint’s expression remained unchanged, but the slight flare of his nostrils gave him away.
Now to set the stage… “I was out back one night when I saw him taking something out of that abandoned vehicle. The one that mysteriously appeared not long after the van burned up. The way he was sneaking around, I don’t think he was taking it for your side hustle, I think he was taking it for his own.”
Taint slammed his hand on his desk, making her pulse jump. “What the fuck you talkin’ about?” he growled.
“Did you not understand the words I just said?”
“Heard you, but you don’t know shit.” Oh yeah, maybe the man already had his suspicions and she just confirmed them.
“Okay,” Sapphire shrugged. “Just thought you’d like to know, since aren’t MC brotherhoods supposed to be tight? Aren’t your members supposed to be loyal to each other and to your club?”
“You don’t know what the fuck he was doin’.”
“You’re right. I don’t. Maybe if the cameras weren’t disabled in the back lot, you could see it for yourself.”
“They weren’t disabled,” he grumbled.
Bullshit. Mel had confronted Taint before about those cameras because she was worried about the girls’ safety. He disabled them so their drug dealing out back wouldn’t be recorded. That would create digital evidence that could be used against them. “No? Then check the footage. You’ll see I’m right. My guess is that he’s stealing from you for his own benefit. Maybe that’s why he hasn’t been around much. Too busy using your stash to keep his little enterprise making him money.”
