If that was true, she saw that as a bonus.
The last thing she needed was a man to come into her life, and after committing herself to him and getting attached—maybe even falling in love—he decided he didn’t like how she lived her life, or the career she chose, and would try to dictate what she could and couldn’t do.
No damn way.
But sex, on the other hand, didn’t have to come with strings. It could be fun and satisfying.
For both of them.
Just not at The Peach Pit.
“I want to fuck you,” his voice was thick and rough as he slipped his fingers from her.
He had to be so uncomfortable since he currently had a steel pipe jammed in his jeans and she felt bad that he wouldn’t get relief for that any time soon. But as much as she wanted to have sex with him, this was not the time or the place.
Plus, if she didn’t move on to her next customer, someone was going to be pounding on the door soon.
“Not here.” Her words no more than a breath. She leaned back enough to see his handsome face. “We don’t have time to do it right and I’m expected to be in the other VIP room shortly. I’m sorry.”
He cupped her cheek. “I get it. If we’re going to take this further, I want to do it right, too. No shortcuts. I want plenty of time to appreciate every damn inch of you and not have to rush.”
“I want the same.”
His dark eyes flared and the corners of his very kissable mouth tipped up. “Is it a date?”
“I’m not looking to date.”
“Not that kind of date,” he clarified.
“Oh, that kind of date.” She wanted to say yes, but… “Will it make things awkward between us afterward?”
“My guess is, only if I suck and can’t satisfy you. Then I’ll never be able to show my face around you again,” he teased.
“Simple solution... make sure that doesn’t happen,” she teased back.
“I promise to do my best.”
She grinned. “You better.”
His dark eyebrows pinched together. “What time are you done here tonight?”
“Unfortunately, I’m here until closing. It’s New Year’s Eve, remember?”
“Then, what do you say to starting your new year with a bang?” One side of his mouth hitched up.
“I’d say happy fucking new year. Now I need to go switch out my thong since it’s soaked.” She pressed a quick kiss against his mouth. “Thank you for that. I’ll text you my address for our date later.”
When she began to climb off his lap, he stopped her by grabbing her hips. “But you don’t have my number.”
“I have my ways to get it.”
“I like the enthusiasm,” he said on a chuckle.
She tapped the tip of her finger to the tip of his nose. “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Chapter Six
The only time he’d gone to a woman’s place to have sex at this ungodly fucking hour before was when he had picked someone up at the bar at closing time.
And, of course, he’d been desperate.
Did he consider himself desperate at three in the morning as he hauled his ass up the exterior stairs to the second floor?
He might agree with that assessment. But in this case, not desperate for just anyone’s pussy, but desperate for Sapphire’s.
Did that make him any less of an asshole?
No.
But the difference was, she’d been in his thoughts since the second he spotted her at The Peach Pit months ago. In fact, so much so, he’d had zero interest in anyone else since then. And that was not normal in his world.
Women were a dime a dozen. They came, they went. Just how he normally liked it.
In an attempt to set his tilted world back upright, here he was climbing stairs in a bad part of town, in what, even in the dark, looked like a dump.
When he read the address in her text, he did a double-take when he saw she lived in an apartment in Rockvale. Fucking Rockvale! Where The Plant was. Where he and his fellow Blue Avengers hung out often. Where the federal task force met on the third floor.
He couldn’t believe Finn never said a damn word.
It could be Pippi Longstocking didn’t know. Or maybe his redheaded brother didn’t think anyone, like Rez, needed to know where Sapphire lived.
But here he was in Rockvale with the anticipation of getting laid. Again, not by just some random chick he picked up at the bar.
But Sapphire.
He didn’t want to say it was a dream come true, but…
For fuck’s sake, it was more of a fantasy come true.
He couldn’t wait to do all the things he did to her in his mind when his eyes were closed and he had a fist wrapped around his cock. In bed. In the shower. After eating lunch.
When he simply breathed.
Because of that, she could’ve texted him at 4:05 AM and he would’ve rolled out of bed and rushed right over, not even taking the time to put on pants.
