Since she was wearing a bikini, his eyes kept being drawn to her wet cleavage, making her very aware of his struggle not to shove his face into her tits. His favorite place to plant it other than between her thighs.
She pressed her lips to his ear and whispered, “I can see how hard it is for you.”
“In more ways than one,” he murmured back.
“If you haven’t noticed, we’re sitting right next to you,” Finn said dryly.
“Soooooo,” Mel started with a laugh, “how’s the search going for a new place?”
Since she was still living with Rez and they hadn’t killed each other yet, they decided they should find a bigger place to continue their cohabitation. His condo was nice, but it wasn’t the most spacious since he bought it thinking he’d remain a bachelor.
“We’re not having any luck since the market is hot and Rez wants a place with enough room to grow. We’re looking for a place big enough to do that.”
“To grow? Like with kids?” Mel asked, a combination of surprise and excitement coloring her tone.
They were nowhere near ready for that.
“More like a dog or a cat for now. This is new for the both of us. I’ve never lived with anyone, so I’m still adjusting.”
“I expected Rez to say that, not you.”
Rez huffed, “My adjustment consists of learning to fold the laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer and remembering to put down the toilet seat. I’m not ready to add dirty diapers and potty training to that list yet.”
It was far too soon to think about making a family since they were only just getting used to living with each other.
They were taking baby steps, without the baby.
Sapphire tightened her arm around his neck. “Agreed. He’s still in training, which is why he’s complaining about laundry and toilet seats.”
Finn chuckled.
“You laugh,” Mel elbowed Finn, “but it took a while for me to get you out of that bachelor pad mentality.” Her attention swung back to Sapphire. “I guess that means you won’t be moving any time soon.”
“We’re looking for the right house and we’re willing to wait for it. Speaking of finding a place… How about you? Any luck?” she asked Mel.
“Oh shit! I didn’t tell you! On his travels, Axel happened to come across an abandoned building for sale with a lot of potential. We put in an offer two days ago. Cross your fingers that it’s accepted. If it is, the bad part will be it needs a lot of work. But the good part is, it’ll be a blank slate and, if we drum up enough funds, I can build my dream club from the ground up.”
Sapphire’s pulse sped up with that news. “Where’s it at?” She was so excited that Mel would finally be getting her dream that she almost bounced on Rez’s lap. Only, if she did that, she might injure him in a very important place.
And that would be tragic.
“Right outside of Uniontown.”
Rez hooted loudly. “Damn, that’s perfect. You’ll be in direct competition with The Peach Pit.”
“It won’t be a fair competition. We plan on blowing them right out of the fucking water,” Finn said. “We should name the club Karma.”
Rez chuckled. “Couldn’t happen to a better motherfucker than Saint.”
Who was still breathing, unfortunately. Or fortunately, depending on who you asked.
“The whole reason we were hoping to find a location nearby,” Finn told Rez.
All of this gave Sapphire some fresh hope.
“We’re going to need a lot of money to get this off the ground, so we talked about looking for investors. Even if they only want to front us the money. Once the club’s turning a profit, I’m willing to pay them back with interest,” Mel explained.
“While I have some savings I can dig into,” Finn said, “even combined with what Mel has saved up, it’s not enough to do it right. Having at least two other partners would help get the club opened quicker. We need to start strong and stay strong to make this venture a success.”
“I’d do it in a second,” Sapphire said, “but unfortunately, I can’t afford it, even though I’m making really good money at Heaven’s Angels right now. Better than what I expected.”
“It’s been worth the drive, then?” Finn asked.
“For now. But hearing that you two finally found a place will make working there more bearable and will give me something to look forward to. Once it’s open, I’ll come work for you. If you’ll still have me, Mel.”
“I decided I don’t want you as the hostess, Phire,” Mel announced, her expression grim.
She didn’t? She shifted in Rez’s lap when he squeezed her waist under the water. “I thought—”
“I have someone else in mind for hostess.” She shot Sapphire a huge smile. “I want you as the manager instead. And I’m considering making Raven the assistant manager.”
