“I already don’t like where this is going.” I crossed my arms and leaned back in the chair.

“What if we make a copy of the USB drive and let Lenora go home with it. . .” he started. I sat up in my seat. Mikey leveled me with a stern look. “Everyone pretends that things are fine. She dresses up and goes to the church for the wedding..”

“What the. . .” Dominic said.

“No.” I shot out of my seat. “What the fuck?”

“Sit down, Rocco.” My brother continued looking at me with the same face he made when I did something stupid. I didn’t sit down but crossed my arms and stood next to my chair. “Everyone will be at this wedding. Her dad, Adriano, and their guards. Everyone.”

I sat down, set my elbows on my knees, and buried my face in my hands. God damn it. Gio and Dom started asking questions, but I was still going over my brother’s idea. IF Lenora weren’t part of it, it would be a brilliant plan. I knew if she heard it, she’d agree instantly, but I didn’t want that. I didn’t want her to leave my sight, and I didn’t want her around her father or Adriano. I took a breath and joined the conversation.

“We could have her wired, so if Giuseppe does anything crazy, we could go in there,” Gio suggested.

“Or Dominic can go with her, say he found her, and stay with them until it’s time to go to the church,” I said.

“That would be suspicious as hell, Roc,” Rosie said from the kitchen.

“Why, because he doesn’t go anywhere without you?” Loren asked.

“Yeah.” She shrugged as she turned to the stove and got distracted while studying the kitchen. “I can’t believe there’s a vent here.”

“Pretend you’re drunk and have to stay there,” Gio said to Dominic.

“I guess I could drive myself there.” Dom tilted his head as he considered it.

“Wouldn’t he just have one of his men drive you home?” Loren asked.

I was barely listening to their suggestions. I could only think about a scared Lenora facing her father alone. “If she goes to the apartment, I can’t sneak in.”

“That’s what you’re worried about?” Dom shot me a droll look.

I shot him one back. “I’m worried about her safety, dumbass.”

“You can’t climb buildings? In the commercials, they climb buildings,” Dean said.

“You’re an idiot.” I shook my head. “It’s the Marines, not Spider-Man training.”

“I can call Sofia and have her go,” Dom said. “I think she’s back in town, and if she’s not, once she gets word about what’s happening, she’ll want to be there.”

“That’s not a bad idea,” I said quietly, because I didn’t want to agree.

“There will be innocent people at the wedding,” Gio said. “We wouldn’t have time to warn them.”

“You realize, we have to kill all of them,” I said. “If we go through with this, it’s not only Giuseppe and Adriano we need to take out. It would be them and their crews.”

Dom remained silent. I needed to ask him how he felt about this. If taking out his dad was going to be an issue, he needed to sit this out.

“We can’t just go on a shooting spree,” Loren said. “Our wives will be there, our parents, Nadia’s kids, people who have nothing to do with this. If we miss even one shot. . .”

“Rocco never misses a shot,” my brother said. “He can be high up, where the organ is.”

“I may not miss, but I can’t take out all their men from up there without drawing a lot of attention.” I drummed my fingers as I tried to think of who else was a good shot. I couldn’t involve anyone in private security. Gio was out of the question. I couldn’t be sure that he’d do it without missing. He was more of an in-your-face kind of guy. I looked at Gio. “I may need Petra.”

“You know this is her kind of party,” Gio said, yawning. “I’ll text her now.”

“You can count on me,” Mikey said.

“No. Fuck no.” My eyes snapped to his. “And while we’re at this, Dominic, I think you need to sit this one out.”

“Fuck no.” He made fists with his hands.

“You can’t kill your father,” I said. “And any little hesitation will throw us off.”

“I won’t hesitate.”

“Dom.” I sighed. “Just think about it. If I were in your shoes, I’d hesitate.”

“I agree about Dom sitting out, but I’m not.” My brother crossed his arms. “I’m just as good a shot as you.”

“I didn’t say you weren’t, Michael. You could lose your job over this.”

“I’m more worried about losing my little brother.” He raised an eyebrow. “I’m doing it whether you want me to or not.”

“Fuuuuuck.” I ran my hands down my face.

“Dom, you should think about sitting out. Marchetti has a point.” Gio yawned again. “Let’s sleep on it and meet tomorrow morning.”
