My head sank to my sheets, and I threw my arms over my head dramatically. “I think I just died and went to heaven.”

Kellan chuckled and said in a throaty voice, “Or hell.”

The room smelled like sex, a musky combination of us, and I wanted nothing more than to revel in it as I took gulping breaths, trying to rein in my sprinting pulse.

Kellan leaned over to offer me a soft kiss that turned into a long and sensual one. I could taste myself on him, and that also had never happened before. Talk about a lot of firsts with a guy I’d only ever dreamed about being with.

When I wrapped him up in an embrace, not wanting to let him go, not yet, he didn’t resist, only sank against me and breathed into my neck.

And the moment was so perfect, maybe even more perfect than what happened before, until it was ruined by loud voices in the hallway.

Kellan stiffened, immediately untangling himself from my arms. “I should go.”

I knew he was right, but damned if I didn’t want it to be different. I wanted to sleep with him, wake with him, make him mine. The best I could hope for in this situation though, was him not freaking on me or keeping his distance after tonight.

While I straightened my clothing, he waited at the door until the hallway was clear. Then, throwing one final disarming smile over his shoulder, he was gone.

Kellan

I was pacing the length of the apartment, thinking about what I’d done with Donovan last night. How I’d given in to my mounting desire for him against my better judgment. But damn. He might’ve considered himself inexperienced, but he knew just how I’d needed to be touched.

And getting on my knees for him wasn’t something I could have denied myself. The way he’d responded to me sucking his gorgeous cock was pretty incredible. It felt…special. And that was a huge problem. Because that left us in limbo. Left me feeling vulnerable as hell. Not because I thought he was anything like the dude that had burned me in high school. Far from it. More that he was hard to resist, and last night I didn’t want to stop for anything.

Plus, he still played on my dad’s team, not only this season, but the next one as well. It would be his last year of college, mine too, and then we’d be off to find careers of our own. We didn’t need any extra complications. So outside of that incredible stolen moment, there couldn’t be anything more between us.

Besides, how close had we come to being found out? Anyone could’ve walked in on us, but I was so caught up in him that I threw it all by the wayside. I could just picture the pure disdain on Maclain’s face or the frustration in my dad’s eyes, and it made my stomach revolt.

When I heard the key in the lock, I squared my shoulders in an attempt to try and act perfectly normal in front of my roommate. She didn’t know anything about Donovan’s sexuality outside of the hotel cuddle session or us dancing at the club, but of course she could’ve easily put the pieces together.

After I left Donovan’s room last night, I needed to get the hell out of there, lest anyone guess what we’d been up to. I’d tried to put my clothes and hair in some semblance of order, but my legs still felt all wobbly, so I’d figured getting outside for fresh air and a four-block walk back to my apartment would do me good.

I’d looked for Jasmine, then texted her that I wanted to leave, and she told me to go without her, which could only mean one thing—a hookup.

“Look what the cat dragged in,” I said with a smirk, looking Jasmine over. Everything seemed mostly in order except for the shadows of exhaustion under her eyes.

“Shut it.” She kicked out of her shoes at the door. “I need coffee, stat.”

I reached for a mug and poured her a steaming cup.

“Thanks.” She took several sips before sinking onto a stool at the counter.

“So…does this mean you hooked up with Maclain?” I reached for my backpack and slipped my laptop inside.

“Believe it or not, nothing happened,” she replied, even as a flush crawled across her cheeks as if she were remembering something from their evening. “We stayed up most of the night, talking.”

My head sprang up from tying my sneakers. “He actually has normal conversations with people? He doesn’t just grumble and spout off?”

“Well, he did his fair share of that too.” She chuckled. “But everyone’s got shit to work out.” She paused, and I could only imagine what he might’ve shared with her. But maybe they found things in common, especially when it came to their families. She was a good listener, so if she got anything out of him, maybe it was a relief, because if anyone needed to blow off some steam, it was that guy. “Then it got late, and I accidentally fell asleep.”
