“How about you say something funny to make Archie laugh, then?” Greer suggested.

I grinned back at him. “I don’t know many jokes, but my cousin and I always laugh when we talk about weird words.”

Sloan came back from the kitchen with a bottle of water. “Weird words?”

“Or unsexy words,” I said. “Like scrotum. Or Lane, my cousin, he’s allergic to the word penis because he once had a Dom who’d use it for dirty talk.” I beamed when Greer cracked up. I loved hearing his laugh. “So I tease Lane sometimes and say, like, I’m gonna go pee with my penis now, and he’ll throw something at me.”

It gave me an idea, and I quickly hauled out my phone. I needed to charge it again.

“You sure are a brat, little one,” Sloan said, amused.

“Yes, Sir.” I sent him a quick smirk, then wrote Lane a message.

I miss you, and I’m sorry I was a penis.

I owed him a lot more than a text, but it was a start.

“So your cousin is also kinky?” Greer asked.

“And gay,” I chuckled. “But I came out first!”

He chuckled too. “He part of a community?”

“Yeah, Old Town.” I nodded. “Do you know anyone there?”

“Nope. This one, though.” He jerked a thumb toward Sloan and glanced back at him. “You have some buddies there, don’t you?”

Sloan inclined his head. “I know Max, and I rented a chair at the studio with his brother Mike and his wife.”

Oh wow. So Sloan and Max knew each other… Interesting. Max was great. Very funny and kind. “I dated Max for a little while,” I admitted. “It was weird. On paper, we’re perfect for each other. Kinks line up, he’s hot as heck, I’m cute as a button, but we had very little chemistry.”

We were better off as friends. No harm, no foul.

“Chemistry’s funny that way,” Greer murmured. “Sometimes a badass Sadist falls for a stubborn Daddy Dom instead.”

I grinned. He was talking about himself and Sloan, I was sure of it.

Sloan positioned himself behind the couch, just as Greer had done with me earlier, and Sloan dipped down and kissed his badass Sadist.

“I’m only stubborn in your eyes because I don’t obey you,” he teased.

“No shit,” Greer chuckled.

They were so hot when they kissed. It was just a sweet kiss, a series of pecks, and then a little bit of brushing with the soft tips of their tongues, and it made me wanna make out so bad.

I glanced at Archie, finding him stacking the last kits in the cardboard boxes. Maybe we could make out later.

Maybe I could make him laugh later too.

He’d bested me this time!

CHAPTER EIGHT

“Five minutes! I’ll hurry my butt off!” I shut the door and ran for the entrance, then past the lobby and toward the elevators.

Thank goodness Lane had responded so quickly before—and accepted my apology—’cause I needed him to get into my condo. We’d decided to meet up next week to talk things out properly, and I couldn’t wait to tell him about Sloan. And Archie and Greer.

It made me think of what Archie had whispered in the truck. He’d told me right before we reached Arlington that he’d send me a message with “advice” as soon as I was home. With the domly types in the front seat, he apparently couldn’t divulge more than that. But it had to do with them, I assumed.

As promised, his incoming message dinged when I was going up in the elevator, and I opened it to read.

For years, Master denied his feelings for Sloan, not only because they’re best friends but because he mainly saw a Daddy Dom. Greer sometimes struggles with labels, which I’m not sure he’s even aware of. And you know he’s not into DD/lb, but I think he’s into *you.* He’s so protective of you, Corey. He worries a lot. He cares deeply. But we need to give him a nudge. So my advice is, show him you’re much more than a Little. Show him you’re not a kink. I can almost guarantee that once his eyes are open, he’ll stop seeing what’s stereotypically Little-like, and he’ll just see you.

I read and reread his words until it was time to knock on Lane’s door.

I didn’t know about this… Archie seemed so sure, but I didn’t see it. I didn’t see the things he found so obvious—and maybe it was best I did what I’d said. Back off. I was more than happy to just have fun with Archie. He was so wonderful.

Lane opened the door and held out his spare key to my place.

“Thank you.” I smiled and snatched it from him.

“There’s a rumor in my community about a fire,” he stated. “Did House Mclean burn down?”

Crap. I was hoping we could save this till we met up and had more time. “I can give you the CliffsNotes if you tag along. I gotta hurry. I have three hot kinksters waiting for me downstairs, and on that note, you should totally join my community, which did not burn down, but yeah, there was a fire, and I’m breaking up with Marcus.”
