“I love you,” Soren murmured, their lips brushing and tugging at each other with each word. He could feel the pounding of Alexei’s heart, hear the ragged catch of his breath as he said those three words. “I love you. Love you so much,” he repeated. “I’ll do anything to keep you. To make you mine. From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were the rarest treasure I’d ever find, and I had to have you. But these last days, it’s not enough to steal you from the world.” He closed his eyes and swallowed hard against the lump that had grown there. Charlie’s admonishments made so much more sense now that he was holding Alexei. “I need to trust you and have you trust me. I need to earn your love.”

Alexei kissed the corner of his mouth, his bottom lip, his top lip, and finally slipped his tongue into his mouth, deepening the kiss until Soren was moaning. “Shhh, doudou. Of course I love you. I trust you. And if you do something stupid, like take that CIA bitch’s offer, I’ll beat the crap out of you, but I will still love you.”

“Yes, Angel,” he whispered, kissing him again as his heart took flight.

The sexy minx in his arms slipped a hand between them and shoved down Soren’s sleep pants, freeing his cock. Those nimble fingers wrapped around his hardening dick and stroked. “Now how about you show me how much you love me by coming all over my hand.”

Chapter 20

The house was in a state of chaos, with people showering, grabbing weapons, and shouting snarky comments at each other between the floors. That made it all the easier for Alexei to slip out the rear door, across the private garden, and over the low fence. He didn’t look back. Couldn’t let himself. He was on a mission, and now was not the time for doubts, second thoughts, or hesitations.

This was the best course of action. It had to be.

Eyes followed him. Even if he couldn’t see them, he could feel them on his slight form as he cut across town. It was late morning on a sunny summer day with blue skies overhead and the streets already filled with bicyclists. Tourists and locals alike were chatting happily amongst themselves as they headed off to whatever plans they had.

Those people didn’t give him a second look. Today, he was blending into the crowds with his boring shorts, plain T-shirt, and ball cap pulled down to cover his platinum-blond locks. And sadly, no makeup. He felt naked without it, as if some part of him had been cut off and left exposed. It wasn’t unusual for him to go clean-faced into a job, but he didn’t enjoy it. There were times when it was more important to not stand out and disappear completely into the crowd as if he was part of the scenery.

Blah. Boring.

But he would do this for Soren.

He took his time working his way across the city, sticking to the busiest sections. For now, he wanted to be constantly surrounded by people. A couple of times, he looked over his shoulder and spotted a tail or two. Definitely not as sneaky as his uncles. Even Soren moved like a shadow. These people were barely better than amateurs. What a shame.

After close to an hour, he finally spotted the bright swath of green of Vondelpark. Stepping through the tall iron gates emblazoned in big, gold letters with the name of the park, Alexei was taken aback by the feeling of stepping into a secret world. The busy city fell away and everywhere he looked was lush green, winding waterways, and brilliant flowers. The sounds of cars rushing by became a hushed whisper, almost lost completely to bird song and the laughter of the park’s occupants. People strolled along the wide paths and lounged on the grass, content to laze away the beautiful day.

This was the perfect spot.

He picked up his pace a little bit, moving away from the crowds for the first time. Cutting across a vast grassy area, he ducked into the thicker shadows cast by chestnut and birch trees. He hadn’t gotten more than a few yards into the hidden area when a harsh voice barked at him to stop.

With a grin, Alexei darted behind a large tree, its rough bark scratched his shoulders through his thin T-shirt. A muffled shot rang out right before something bit hard into the tree near his head. So much for talking about this.

Reaching under his shirt, he pulled out the gun hidden there and continued to smoothly roll around the tree. The stupid gun felt heavy and awkward in his hand. But then he’d never cared for Glocks, and his dear Uncle Justin had stocked the house with only Glocks. Alexei hadn’t much choice when it came to lifting weapons off his uncles. The only Sig Sauer he’d brought to Amsterdam didn’t have a suppressor, but all of Justin’s Glocks were prepped for them.
