"No, no, no," I soothed, draping my arm across his shoulders. I could understand how he thought I was propositioning him, but I knew he wasn't interested in age play because it wasn't my desire either, and we were perfectly matched. "It's not for me either." Dalton relaxed in relief. "I was just curious what your thoughts were about it in general."
Dalton was quiet for a moment before shrugging. "I guess I can see the appeal; life is stressful, and it might be nice to be taken care of or to escape for a while. When we threw axes yesterday, I was relaxed and not thinking about my troubles. I guess it's kinda the same thing."
I beamed at my clever, wonderful mate. I knew he had acceptance in his heart; he just needed to be shown kindness in order to unlock it.
"Why do you ask?" Dalton asked curiously.
I took his hand, confident that his acceptance would continue when I told him, "Andy and Tage share an age play relationship. Tage takes care of Andy in many ways, including preparing his meals, providing for him financially, and allowing him to play with toys without judgment. Tage loves your brother very much, and they are both very happy."
Dalton was silent for several long moments, and I didn't interrupt his thoughts. Finally, he replied, "It doesn't surprise me that Andrew likes to play. He always wanted to, but I wouldn't let him." He hung his head. "I haven't been a good brother to him. I did what I thought was right, but I was so very wrong."
"Don't beat yourself up," I begged him, squeezing his hand. "Life doesn't come with instructions, and things can get very difficult and confusing. But now you've got the opportunity to grow closer to your brother. Repairing relationships is an important part of this program, and I think this is the time to repair things between you and Andy. I want you to see his true self, and understand his desires. He looks up to you, and he needs you. You need him, too."
Dalton gave a tiny smile and nod. "It would be nice to finally have a relationship with him."
"I want that for you," I replied honestly. I wanted him to have everything good in life. "I called Tage this morning, and he invited us over after we've had breakfast. This is a big step, but I know you're ready for it, and you have me beside you to support you and cheer you on."
"Thank you." Dalton gave my hand a firm squeeze. "For everything."
"It's my pleasure." I let go of his hand to pay his knee. "Get dressed and I'll take you to my favorite donut shop.” I had the whole day off of work to focus on my mate and his needs. “It's in the apartment building where they - and I - live."
"You live in the same building?" I nodded and Dalton huffed a laugh. "Fate's a funny thing, huh?"
I blinked in surprise before relaxing into a smile. I knew that he wasn't referencing Fate the way I knew of her; rather the coincidence of the situation. But his words still made me hopeful that he would easily accept our mate bond. I nodded and agreed, "She sure is."
Chapter Seven
Dalton
I took a deep breath as Hutch and I waited for the door to open. We were standing outside of Tage and Andrew’s apartment, and my nerves were all over the place.
At first, I was nervous because I had no idea what to expect, but that changed when Hutch took me to breakfast. We visited the donut shop in his apartment building, and there he ran into someone he knew well; his Coven Master Nikolai.
I wasn’t even sure what a Coven Master was, but Hutch explained that Nikolai was sort of like their vampire president and leader. Nikolai seemed nice and cordial, but it was the man with him who captured my attention.
He was an adult, but he was dressed in clothing which made him appear younger. I even caught a glimpse of a diaper peeking out of the top of his cotton shorts. He called Nikolai “Daddy”, and the Coven Master referred to the man, Izzy, as “Little One”. I knew right away that the pair had an age play relationship, like Hutch described to me back at my apartment.
At first, I was in shock to see how they interacted with one another, because it was so different from anything I’d encountered before. Izzy climbed onto Nikolai’s lap, and his…Daddy wiped the powdered sugar from his mouth when he was finished eating.
But as I watched them (from the corner of my eye, so they wouldn’t catch me observing them), I noticed something else; they seemed happy. When Nikolai told his boy that he did a good job getting his belly full, Izzy beamed from ear to…partial ear. Poor baby.
