He smiled then, like a kid in a… well, a candy shop.

And then he started to move. My eyes closed as pleasure spun through my body like a series of spinning tops, moving in every direction. Everywhere our skin touched felt like magic. Like he was velvet and I was silk. His hard muscles and soft furred chest scraped my nipples deliciously. But the greatest pleasure came from where we joined, between our legs.

It was hard to believe anything on earth could feel this good, or was supposed to.

“I want to draw this out but I don’t want to make you sore.”

“Okay,” I breathed, then added “I trust you.”

That did it. Something about those words made him go wild. He was still careful not to be too rough, but the urgency in his movements skyrocketed. I started to climax again as I felt him swell inside me. A moment later he lost his tempo, bucking wildly on top of me, before shuddering as we came together.

He held me tightly as our breathing slowed, rolling us onto our sides, our bodies still joined. After a few breathless moments he looked at me, brushing my tousled hair away from my face. He kissed me, fierce and tender at once.

“Is it always like this?” I asked him, stunned by what had just happened between us.

He looked at me, his jaw slightly clenched. Then he shook his head. When his eyes met mine again, there was something raw and powerful in them. Almost… vulnerable.

“No. Never. It’s never like this, Mishka.”

My mouth opened, then shut. There was nothing to say to that. So, I said nothing, just let the feeling of warmth inside me spread until it filled my entire being.

I had never felt so safe or secure. It was similar to lying in bed as a child, with my papa in the other room. Raindrops against the window. A belly full of hot chocolate and cream. That evening’s bedtime story still dancing through my mind.

“I suppose we should get back to our guests,” he said, not moving.

“Yes,” I said, suddenly worried. “How do I look?”

“Delicious,” he said, biting my ear. “Scrumptious,” he added.

“Anton! I mean do I look…” I trailed off, unsure how to phrase ‘recently made love to’.

“Thoroughly ravaged?” He teased. “I am afraid so.”

I turned bright pink.

“Never fear, I can play lady’s maid,” he said slowly withdrawing from my body with a sigh. He stood and held out his hand. “Ready?”

“Not in the slightest,” I joked. I placed my hand in his and let him lead me to the bathroom. We did not have time to shower, but he was true to his word and repaired my hair. We did our best to straighten our clothes, but we were both somewhat rumpled. Finally, we decided we needed to do something more. He changed his shirt and I slipped into one of the other wedding gowns, this one in a soft ivory, and the matching accessories.

“You look lovely, as always,” he said, coming up behind me and kissing my ear. I loved the feeling of his big strong arms around me. His breath sent shivers down my spine at the same time that his warmth soothed and comforted me. His chest against my back was a foundation that I could relax against.

I could finally relax. I knew I would be cared for. Not that I could not take care of myself. I could. But I no longer had to.

Anton would protect me. Keep me safe. Do his best to make me happy. It was hard to imagine being happier. Only one thing would do that. Well, two.

And those visions came to me together. Sitting around a table. Eating. Anton was there, of course. My papa was there, too, looking hale and hearty. Andrei and Alexei were there as well, with Anastasia, her husband Vice, and now two little ones.

But it was what was in my arms that made my heart sing the loudest. Not my violin. For once I did not even think of my music when I imagined my future.

Nestled in my arms, was a sweet little babe of my own.

Chapter 45

Anton

“What did you think of the Americans, little one?”

“Hmmm?”

I kissed the sweet-smelling head resting in the crook where my shoulder met my chest. Somehow, she fit perfectly. We fit perfectly, in every single way.

Body, mind, and soul.

The miracle that had led me to her was astonishing. I had started to believe in a higher power in a new way. How else could you explain what had happened here? Like Adam, I had met my Eve. She was the perfect complement to me. In fact, she was above me, on a pedestal, a living, breathing inspiration that would inspire me to be the best man I could possibly be, for the rest of my days.
