“Mr. Hennessy is expecting you. I’ll see you later.”
“Thanks.”
I turn, walking deeper into the apartment. The aroma of something delicious hits me. My mouth starts to water. The deeper into the apartment I go, the more I salivate.
Clayton appears, wiping his hands on a towel. He looks as delicious as the room smells. He has on a pair of black slacks and a black dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up over his elbows.
He has a bit of a beard going on. I love the red contrast to his skin. His beard shows more red than the hair on the top of his head.
He purses his lips. “Still no dress?”
I shake my head. “No.”
He opens his arms. “Come here.”
I walk over to him and into his embrace. He kisses the top of my head. I look up at him and he captures my lips. I’m expecting just a peck, but he devours me instead.
I moan into his mouth the same time as he groans into mine. My pussy starts to throb as he palms my ass and holds me to him.
Maybe tonight will be the night we finally have sex. I appreciate that he’s been taking things slow. However, the contract did say we would be intimate, and it’s kisses like this that have me looking forward to when that time comes.
He breaks the kiss. “I’ll call Delta in the morning and let her know to bring someone in. They can design whatever you want.”
“Clayton, no.”
“Yes.” He kisses my nose.
Well, that just backfired. I didn’t want to waste his money on the gowns I’ve been looking at. Now he’s going to spend a fortune bringing someone in.
In the short time I’ve gotten to know him. I’ve learned that when he gets something in his head, it’s final. I’ll be getting a dress designed for this nonexistent wedding if I don’t find a way to put a stop to this.
“Listen, Delta has a few more shops she wants me to go to. If I don’t find a dress in one of those, then we can do it your way.”
He eyes me suspiciously. “Fine.” He pecks my lips. “Come, let’s eat.”
Clayton
“This is so romantic. It must have taken so much time for you to do all this,” Sid says as she looks around at the roses, candles, and the table set for two.
I shrug my shoulders. “Not really, Levi was here to help.”
The look on her face is beyond what I was expecting. I’d do it all again to put that look there. The candlelight highlights her beauty. I’ve never wanted to do so much for any other woman.
“Speaking of assistants. How is Nikki working out? Are you happy with her?” I ask.
“She’s great. I’m getting so much more writing done. Thanks again.”
“No problem,” I reply.
“You know, having her has led me to think about writing an actual full-length novel.”
“So why don’t you?”
She shrugs. “Fear, I guess. A short story is miles away from a book. I’ll need to find editors and I’m thinking about self-publishing, so I need to do my research on how that all works.”
“I’m sure you can pull it off. I’ll help with finding the editors. I’ll have Levi get on that first thing in the morning. Go for it. If anyone can do it, it’s you.”
She gives me a cute smile and tilts her head to the side. “You have such confidence in me. It means a lot. Thank you.”
“Anytime. Let me know how I can help. I’m here for whatever you need.”
“And why is that?”
I place my fork and knife down. I take her in and allow a small smile to take over my lips. Why am I here for her every need? I’ve asked myself the same thing since she signed that contract. I’ve never been this invested in my past arrangements.
Yes, I take care of my women and their needs. However, none of those women have answered the deep needs I have the way she has. I’m willing to give her anything she needs because she gives me all that I need without knowing it.
“You’re mine.”
The awed look on her face is the most satisfying look I’ve seen all night. However, no lie has been told. She is mine.
“All right then,” she breathes.
Chapter 19
On Fire
Sidney
A week later…
“Sid, Baby, what’s wrong?” Clayton grumbles tiredly while spooning behind me in bed. My skin is buzzing from his nearness. My nipples are so hard they could cut a diamond.
“Nothing,” I reply quietly.
It’s been a month since that night I opened up to Clayton in the bathtub. I hadn’t expected to bare my soul to him the way I had. That was only the start to me losing a piece of myself to him. There’s just something about him that always has me doing the opposite of what I think I would.
