Neither is day blind, though. That was my biggest fear. I nearly wept in relief when the doctor assured us Erik's vision was normal. We knew from the beginning that Shelley could see. She watches the world with avid curiosity, soaking it in just like her mama.
They're perfect. Absolutely fucking perfect. My whole world revolves around Dahlia and the kids, and I've never been happier. I'd die for them, no questions asked. They are my heart and soul.
I lift Dahlia to her feet before bounding to mine beside her and pulling her close.
"Eager, aren't you?" she teases, cuddling up against my side.
"For you? Always, Beauty," I murmur, pressing a kiss to her crown. "Besides, I have plans for you tonight."
"Oh, yeah? And what are these plans?"
"We're giving WilyKit and WilyKat a baby brother or sister tonight," I growl.
"Oh," Dahlia whispers. And then she turns those fathomless blue eyes up at me. "There's just one problem with this plan, Draven." She lifts up on her toes, placing her hand against my chest to steady herself. Her lips brush my jaw. "I'm already pregnant."
With that, she launches herself into the forest, her laughter trailing behind her.
I stand frozen for a long moment, shock and awe coursing through me in tandem. My beauty is pregnant. She's giving me another baby to light up the darkness. Jesus. How does she always manage to make me fall harder? I don't know but she's been doing it for five years.
I know she'll never stop.
"Dahlia!" I growl, bolting after her.
Her laughter floats back, spurring me on as I follow her through the dark.
Always, I follow her through the dark.
