Eros has always been the good guy. His success can be attributed to his hard work and always doing what's right. Raised on his family ranch, he refused to allow the city to change him. He does things his way or not at all. Until she comes along.

Lev might have fallen into Mr. Perfect's bed the night of her best friend's wedding, but he's oh-so-wrong for her. She hates love, roses, and, worst of all, Valentine's Day. Too bad for Lev, ditching Mr. Perfect isn't so easy when you find out he's your new boss and says all the right things. The man is a walking green flag, so when she tells him she's not interested in pursuing anything, she expects that he'll back off. That would, after all, be the right thing to do. But being the good guy is on hold where she’s concerned, she just doesn’t know it yet.

LEV

How long do you have to stay at a wedding before you can leave without it being considered rude? I pull out my phone to google it. This is my first wedding and likely my last. A celebration of love is really not my scene. But I only have one best friend, and I’m pretty sure this will be her one and only marriage, so I have to grin and bear it for her.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for her. She deserves a lifetime of love. I may not believe in the hearts and flowers thing, but I don’t begrudge anyone else that does.

Gabriella hit the jackpot when she met Caleb. She went from being a barista to living in a penthouse with a billionaire. Well, I don’t know for sure if Caleb is one, but I’m pretty positive. I could google that too while I’m at it.

I’d even asked Gabriella before she walked down the aisle if there was a prenup. Nope. I don’t know if that’s stupid or true love. Not that I believe in true love. I never really understood the concept of getting married. The only way it makes sense to me is if it is a financial transaction. And in that case, Gabriella scored in my opinion.

Then again, I grew up with toxic parents. They are still, however, married. I’m not sure how. Every few months my father and mom will have an explosive fight that can shake the walls. That's not too hard to do in a shitty apartment, but I can hear it through my headphones. I really need the noise-cancelling kind, but they are way out of my budget.

The fights all end when my father storms out. He'll be gone for months, and my mom will date random men. Then my father will pop back up, and they are all over each other. It’s the weirdest shit. Dysfunctional doesn’t even begin to describe it.

I enjoy when my father is gone, but I hate when my mom brings random men back to the apartment. When he is home, he’s always asking where I am going and demanding I be home at a certain time. Which makes no sense when he’s gone half the year without a peep from him.

I bring my attention back to my Google search. The best result I can find is a Reddit post with people arguing over how long you should stay at a wedding. Everyone has their own opinion, but this isn’t a big reception, and I’m the odd one in the crowd who is surrounded by people wearing outfits that cost more than I make in a year.

I get my clothes thrift shopping. It was a total score when I found these slacks that fit me. I paired them with a fitted black button-up blouse. It’s kind of see-through, but I’m guessing my teal bra doesn’t help. I have three good bras, and the other two were dirty.

I don’t think Gabriella cares. She was thrilled that I showed up at all. I decide I'll wait until after the cake is cut. I glance over at the custom created masterpiece of a wedding cake. Yes, I’m definitely staying for a taste of that.

Weddings might not be my thing, but I had to check it out. It’s being held at a fancy estate right outside the city. It reminds me of a castle. A place where fairy tales come true. That thought alone almost makes me vomit.

I push all of my negative thoughts about happily ever afters to the back of my mind. It’s Gabriella's special day, and I adore her. The girl is a ray of sunshine. We couldn't be more different, but that works for us. People think I'm the intimidating one between the two of us. Even if I'm smaller. I think it’s all the black I wear, along with the resting bitch face.

It helps keep people from talking to you. It also keeps men away. I jinxed myself. The thought hasn’t even left my head when a man sits down next to me. My stomach flips when I see who it is. I spotted him during the wedding. I got a clear view of everyone when I walked Gabriella down the aisle.

I'm not sure what drew my eyes to him. I do know that he is damn hot, that's for sure. It might be the piercing blue eyes, the defined cheekbones, or the strong jawline. Not to mention the way he fills out a suit. I could tell he was tall even though he was sitting. I hadn’t been wrong. He must be easily over six feet.

Then there is his hair. It’s a dark mahogany, thick, short, and perfectly styled. It’s long enough to sink your fingers into it. Once that thought crossed my mind, I realized that I needed to avoid him at all costs. I don’t want to sink my fingers into any man's hair. Men suck. At least all the ones I know. Gabriella’s isn’t too bad, I suppose. For now, anyway.
