Wes Ward finds himself in new territory. Less than a year ago, he lived in New York City in a fantastic loft that overlooked upper Manhattan. Women in and out of his bed anytime he wanted and not a damn care in the world.

Now?

Now, he finds himself back in Boston plotting ways to stop his high school girlfriend, Mandy, from getting married, dodging his mother's every attempt at helping him settle down, and trying to understand why Clare Monroe makes him forget everything and everyone when she smiles at him.

What is this insane feeling he feels anytime Clare is near him? Why can't he stop thinking about her every second of every day?

And what does he do about Mandy, the woman he fought so hard for who is willing to give their relationship another try right when Wes is ready to admit his feelings for Clare?

This is NOT a love triangle book :)

Falling for Her is a friends to lovers trope and can be read as a stand alone but the author highly recommends you start at the beginning of the series.

Bananas and Bickering

Wes Ward is going to be the death of me. I didn’t know if I liked him or despised him. From the moment we met, he’s been nothing but a pain in my ass. Smart remarks, wickedly handsome face, arrogant, a body to die for, rich, a manwhore. And the way he looked at me sometimes made me question everything. One minute, he was hot, then the next cold. One moment, he flirted; the next, he insulted me. It had been that way from day one.

“You know, if you stare long enough at Wes with those daggers in your eyes, you may just kill him,” Autumn whispered. She was one of my very best friends. She and Rory were my ride-or-die. Now Rory was married to Finn Ward, Wes’s younger brother, and my life would never be the same again—not with Wes there every time I turned around.

“He’s just so…annoying,” I whispered, trying not to draw attention to myself. We were at little Presley’s dance recital. Presley was the daughter of Preston and Harmony Ward. Preston and their sister Angie were Wes’s younger siblings.

It was adorable seeing three and four-year-olds dance around on stage. They did more bumping into each other and giggling than they did dancing.

When the recital was over, we were all invited to Preston and Harmony’s house, which was in the suburbs outside of Boston. Once there, I did my best to ignore Wes. I didn’t like how my body reacted around him.

Spying a dessert table, I made my way through the crowd. The Wards were Irish, and I was pretty sure they invited every Irishman in the Boston area. Of course, Preston owned an Irish pub called Flanagan’s.

Reaching for a mini cupcake, my body sensed him before he spoke a word.

“How is it? I knew I would find you where the desserts were?”

I glared at Wes before I shoved the whole mini cupcake into my mouth.

He raised his eyebrow and said, “Impressive. Can you do that with a normal-sized cupcake?”

“Wouldn’t you like to know?” I spat back, my mouth full of chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream.

When he leaned in closer, I could smell his cologne. It was a mix of spices and a woody smell. It was intoxicating, and I had to force myself not to take a deep breath through my nose.

Wes reached for a cupcake and took a bite. “You know,” he said as he leaned against the wall, “I don’t picture you as the type of girl who…plays…with her food.”

My mouth dropped open. “What is that supposed to mean?”

He gave a one-shoulder shrug. “You seem like you’re all talk, Clare.”

“Eat a bag of dicks, Wes.”

He grinned. “So full of sexual innuendo.”

Turning to face him, I smiled. “I haven’t said a single thing about sex, Wes. Somewhere in that dirty mind of yours, you imagined I did.”

“You didn’t?” he asked, a single brow raised. “You asked if I would like to know if you could put a whole cupcake into your mouth.”

My arms folded across my chest. “And in your mind, that translated into I can put a dick and two balls into my mouth? Is that it?”

A voice cleared from behind me, and my entire body went red.

Please don’t be Jennifer, Wes’s mother. Please, please, please.

Wes’s face broke into a wide smile. I shot him a dirty look and turned to see Rory standing there. “Hey, Rory.”

She looked between me and Wes and sighed. “I don’t even want to know what the two of you were talking about?”

Wes laughed. “Clare here was trying her best to flirt with me.”

“What!” I shouted, causing Rory to pinch my arm. “Ouch!”

“Please keep your voice down, Clare. Can the two of you please get along for an hour, maybe two?”

“We get along,” Wes stated, giving me a wink.

Forcing a smile, I nodded. “We totally get along. Wes was just in awe of my ability to give-”

Rory held up her hand. “I heard. I don’t need you to repeat it, whatever it was you were talking about. What I would like is for the two of you not to bicker and argue and just please remember this is for Presley and there are little ears everywhere.”

“Of course, we know this is for Presley, and I promise we’ll be on our best behavior.”

“Wes?” Rory demanded.

While Rory was reprimanding us, I picked up a banana and started to peel it. With Rory facing Wes and me standing behind her, I placed the banana into my mouth and took it in as far as I could. Wes started to choke, and Rory placed her hands on her hips.

“Wes, this isn’t funny,” Rory said, pointing her finger at him just like a mom would do. “Stop acting like a five-year-old.

“Me?” Wes said, pointing in my direction. But I was too quick, and the banana was gone before Rory even looked my way.
